Sunday

I get a lot of requests from readers to show what a normal day looks like for me. I don't really have a "typical" day, but I'd thought I'd share anyway. This past Sunday, Jonah and I went to lunch at Swingers and then spent some time at LACMA in the afternoon. The outside art installations at LACMA are amazing, and if you have a chance, go visit immediately (tickets are free to kids 17 and under)! These beautiful gold necklaces were sent over by the one and only Verameat ! I've been a long time fan of Vera's line and was ecstatic when she offered to send over a couple of my favorite pieces. I literally have been wearing them non-stop since they came in the mail; I love mixing and matching the different chain lengths and pendants (I'm wearing all three right now). Honestly, no one does better fun/quirky pieces than Vera. As a special perk for being a reader, for the next three days enter WANDERER15 at checkout for 15% off your entire purchase! I'm ...

Sweater in April

Wasteland sent over this beautiful sweater which I was worried I wouldn't be able to wear considering "spring" is supposed to be well underway. Luckily, rain and clouds have threatened Los Angeles' streets for the past couple days and I was able to pull it out and pile it on top of this classic cream poet's blouse, my favorite Chip & Pepper boyfriend jeans and my patent Birkenstocks. A lot of people discount Birkenstocks as being shoes for the granola-y type, but I think they can definitely be something more. They're also the ideal sandal to wear with an outfit like this. I mean it is  Southern California, the weather isn't too cold.  MINKPINK sweater courtesy of Wasteland , Chip & Pepper boyfriend jeans, vintage sterling silver necklaces, vintage poet blouse from Possession Vintage , black Birkenstocks, vintage amber ring, OPI nail polish in Hot & Spicy.

College News

For all of you who have been wondering and have stuck with me through this intense process, I now have some news.  I have been accepted to Bard, Boston University's film school, Chapman's film school, UCLA, and USC's School of Cinematic Arts. I still have yet to hear from a few others, but I am beyond ecstatic. I have been waiting so long for this moment, and thankfully it's been a positive one instead of negative. (Also, for those wondering, I was waitlisted and Barnard and Colorado College, but who cares!?) Here's a peek at those letters, I'm so happy they are real: Good luck and congrats to all the readers out there who are going through the same process and/or have finished! xox

The Peignoir

I apologize profusely for the obscenely long absence. My hard drive was in the process of failing and I had to scramble to get it to the Mac people. I promise I'll make it up to you guys with a bevy of posts for the rest of the month. The college wait is nearing it's end and in the mean time I've answered some questions you guys had about life and school and everything over here .  My boyfriend bought this peignoir for me at the Jet Rag Dollar Sale on La Brea. It's almost too dreamy and ethereal to be worn every day, which is maybe why it should be worn every day.  Vintage sheer peignoir, vintage Levi's denim shorts, American Apparel bustier body suit, Urban Outfitters black satin bra, vintage skull necklace, Moschino heels, my mother's vintage silver bracelet

I've promised and promised, (on a variety of different platforms ), to discuss this whole college process in depth when it was the right time. Although I don't feel "ready," I do feel it's right and important to write this down now, even if-- and especially since-- I am in the emotional throes of it all. This waiting process is killer. I thought I would be able to stay positive for the entire 4+ months of interim; but I'm only human, and some days are better than others. It's weird to think of all the time spent pouring over the work and writing those specific words and then you send it all off and you hear... nothing. For months. In a sense, you live with the schools for however many weeks or months you fill out their applications, and then they just up and leave you. You guys "take a break" of sorts. Occasionally you exchange a couple emails to keep up the friendship, but the romance is over. And then maybe, if the timing is right and you gu...

Free People asked if I was doing a Valentine's Day post and of course I said yes. It's not that I'm a particular fan of the holiday, I simply like the idea of theme dressing. It sets up parameters that require you to think and get creative. How many times can you wear red one way? Or pink? I'm a huge fan of beaded oversized dresses; they're so indicative of the 1920s. This Secret Garden Shift Dress is basically heaven sent. My boyfriend and I have plans to extend our Valentine's Day plans into the weekend (since the actual day falls on a school night). I'll definitely be wearing this dress one of the nights.   Free People Secret Garden Shift Dress , vintage clutch and pearls.

This two piece set by Carin Wester is definitely in my Top 5 Favorite Garments list, right next to my large black leather overalls and rich geometric 70s kimono; I'm amazed I haven't shown it on the blog before. I bought the set two years ago while driving down Ventura Boulevard in the Valley. I spotted it in the window of Urban Outfitters and knew immediately that it had YES written all over it. Thankfully, I got the last pair in my size, (had to strip the mannequin for it, yay tenacity). Carin Wester's line is synonymous with cool chic and ease, I love all her pieces. This set is the epitome of "throw-on-and-go," a concept I've been trying to master ever since starting this blog. Speaking of beginnings, I'm excited to see January is over. Two more months and I'll be able to share my college decisions with you guys. In order to spare you, I will try to avoid words like surreal , unimaginable and amazingly exciting,  but just know I'm experiencing...
