Confession: I've developed quite the infatuation with mexican embroidered dresses and blouses. Of course, I've seen them for years in countless vintage stores and thrift racks but I finally began to pay attention this summer. I picked up these four crop tops about a week ago and thought they'd be the perfect way to share my new obsession with you guys. I've re-opened my online store and will be selling vintage over the next couple months. These pieces are one of a kind so be sure to buy them before someone else does! I love the idea of the dresses sewed into crop tops; I think they're the perfect amount of breeziness and fun.   I decided to embrace the designs in the top and wore it with a mirrored skirt from Shareen Vintage , Zara heels, and a vintage leather belt. You can purchase them at my online store  here . xox

Malibu

Staying in Malibu with Jonah's family for a couple days was the best mini-vacation within the summer vacation. It was filled with plenty of swimming, painting, reading and watermelon eating. Here are some photos from the trip. American Apparel floral print bustier swimsuit , American Apparel scrunchie and Jonah's vintage shirt Jonah and I's tempera/watercolor paint creation This vintage 70s kaftan is my latest thriftstore find-- it came from one of my favorite Goodwills in Hollywood. The rope detailing is the best part; it's what makes it just right. Without it the whole thing would be too shapeless to wear. The  Madewell Boardwalk sandals  were great for the beach There was plenty of watermelon to go around that weekend. The owner of the house we stayed in had two mermaid tails stored away in the garage. I figured this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to fulfill my childhood dream of becoming a mermaid.  The tail matched perfectly with my lavender American Apparel...

Feeling Blue

I picked up this vintage flower tee at the Fairfax Flea Market when I went with my best friends a couple weekends ago; the print reminds me of something Murakami would do. I don't normally wear t-shirts so this piece was definitely out of the ordinary, but I figured it'd go perfectly with these cobalt jeans. Sometimes, dressing in one predominant color is a good thing, but it's important to balance it out with other complementary shades on the color wheel.  Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go pack for the beach. I'm taking a little vacation away from interning and spending the weekend with Jonah in Malibu. I love the ocean, I cant wait!  Madewell boardwalk sandal , vintage flower shirt, Verameat gold claw necklace, Swatch cream watch,  American Apparel Easy Jean and scrunchie.

When I was younger I used to be so confused/afraid when it came to see-through pieces of clothing. A chiffon skirt? Are they supposed to see my underwear? A sheer shirt?  What do you put underneath ? I guess the natural maturing process has allowed me greater insight into the whole ordeal. Although I believe some pieces require more complicated coverups, sometimes all that's needed is a super handy and versatile slip. I've had these two romantic  Free People  dresses in my wardrobe for some time now and it was only until I bought this nude jersey piece could I finally wear them. I've also found that vintage silk sheaths--the ones you've see in every antique shop-- can really do the trick, (like the one I wore  here .) Now that I sorta have this whole slip thing down I plan on tackling lace bras. I'll let you know how it goes! I bought this lavender dress a year and a half ago when I went on my East Coast college trip. I remember sitting in the Philadelphia train sta...

The Uniform in Action

صورة
After the fourth, my mom and I spent the day doing some dangerous recreational shopping in between running errands and a late evening viewing of World War Z. This crop top and high waisted shorts pairing has basically been my uniform these past couple weeks; I'm having enormous amounts of fun mixing and matching different colored tops, (like marbled grey and white), together with different bottoms, (like circle skirts and jeans). You'll probably see a couple more renditions before summer's end. I was definitely one of those early risers who rushed to H&M at 7 am the day the Marni collection came out about a year ago. Although I came home with three pretty basic items, I've had trouble wearing the pieces. When I finally put this classic silk shirt on over my "uniform" it felt like a Eureka! moment. Now I can't imagine wearing anything else. It drapes perfectly and is a very good alternative to the light summer jacket. Lately I've been piling on the ...

This adorable baby doll dress is unlike anything else in my closet. I'm not one for such large stripes and blatant colors but there's something about the viscose fabric and the way the material hangs across the body-- it's lovely. Also, these heels? A friend of a friend was emptying her closet and luckily these Dior cut-out oxfords soon became mine for a crazy good discount (along with a couple other pairs you'll definitely see soon). The details on them are incredible. By the way, how pretty is this courtyard my mom and I found in mid Hollywood? I love locations like this. Even though I've been working quite a lot lately, I've found some time to get outside and be with friends, spend time with Jonah and pursue hot yoga. While I am excited for college, I really want to embrace these next couple months and take advantage of all the rest/relaxation I can. Motel striped "Penny" baby doll dress , Dries Van Noten leather bag, silver ring, Dior lace-up heel...

Silver Lining

I scrambled until the very last minute and bought this dress at 9 pm the night before graduation. I couldn't have been more happy with the choice; the lace detailing is exquisite.  After graduation I had dinner with friends and family and the evening was lovely. These last couple of weeks have ended up being the perfect way to close the book on high school. Signing up for orientation, finding a room mate, being assigned a dorm. It's all happening and it's amazing. My mother used to hand make these astounding rhinestone cuffs in the 1980s-- her pieces were even featured in an issue of W Magazine . We have a silver tray filled with them currently in our living room, and I felt like diving in and putting one on for this outfit. The art deco pinky ring I'm wearing is currently my favorite piece of jewelry. It's from the early 1900s and I've had it since I was seven years old (it used to fit my ring finger). I'll definitely put up a detail shot of it later in th...
