Holiday Jackets Part 3

صورة
The last of the holiday series! This jacket is my absolute favorite statement piece. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. The color has really been lending itself lately as I find myself gravitating to pieces in this rose gold/copper hue. This is a really quick post as I am down to the wire on these college apps. Hope you guys all have exciting New Years plans. 2013 will be filled with new beginnings. I can't wait. I took these photos in Los Angeles but am currently in Oregon with Jonah for a small vacation within a vacation. As I write, White Christmas plays on the TV and snow falls briskly outside; hopefully I'll get some winter-like photos before I leave. This holiday break is turning out to be just what the doctor ordered as I finish up the last of applications and rest after this past semester. It's crazy to think that this time next year I will be home from the first couple months of college. I feel like it was just New Years 2012. Speaking of, I wore this quilted jacket last New Year Eve and there's a high probability I will wear it again this year. The color is close to heavenly and it drapes perfectly. Vintage quilted smoking jacket, vintage corset, American Apparel black shorts, Mr. Kate Kaila Ring , The Stylish Wanderer x Mr. Kate bow ring , vintage rhinestone bib necklace, American Apparel glitter nail polish, Fujifilm Instax prints.

I love taking a basic clothing template-- in this case a black corset and a basic pair of black shorts-- and mixing different jackets/accessories on top. Versatility is the key to sustainability, not just in fashion but basically everywhere. I've had an obsession with statement jackets for about two years now, (honestly they're the only things I buy on a regular basis), and I'm glad I can pull them out now that it's finally cold. I'm so happy it's December. It gives anyone and everyone the perfect chance to pile on as many sparkles/sequins as they possibly can. This photo set is part 1 of 3 I'll put up on the blog this holiday season. I had so much fun styling them; I hope you enjoy! Vintage black corset, Anne Klein gold vintage bolero jacket, American Apparel black shorts, A Peace Treaty brass tribal ring , vintage 1950s gold star ring, OPI nude nail polish, American Apparel Glitter nail polish, vintage brass clutch and earrings.

Honestly? Leather jacket, vintage 80s tee, high waisted dark wash denim, and leopard boots. What more could you ask for? This outfit should become my uniform, it's just easy. Right now, I'm all about easy. I have three applications I'm submitting this week. Wish me luck. Can't believe I'm this old. Glad I can vent about it on this blog. So thankful for you guys. Hope your holidays are good! Vintage tee, Luella x Target leather jacket, American Apparel Easy Jean, Dr. Martens boots.

Couple things I'm into right now: black basics, crop tops, layering necklaces, and shoulders. This wool skirt was a gift from my mom a couple months back. It's such a legitimate vintage piece, so 70s. I love the length, construction and silhouette. It's perfect for Los Angeles' current weather, which has been sunny and cold at the same time, and basically been messing up my wardrobe choices everyday. Things could be worse.  The buttons are so beautiful on this thing! My friend Yaari gave this Oregon necklace to me two years ago. It's so simple and lovely, I wear it all the time now. It's interesting how go through wearing certain pieces in waves, i.e. you won't look at it for months and then suddenly you can't get enough of it. I kind of want the California necklace now, just to complete the picture of who I am. As you write college essays you tend to go through intense personal scrutiny. The schools ask you to get to the basis of who you are fundamental

Favorite Albums

Music is such an integral portion of my life, I feel it's a crime not to address it here on the blog at least once a year. I receive a lot of questions asking for recommendations, so I decided to list my top four favorite albums, and then a couple up-and-comers (although that doesn't necessarily mean they were released this year or even this decade). Enjoy. Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy has literally been my go-to favorite since tenth grade. I think it's part of the reason my ex and I broke up. Sometimes you have to separate a person's politics with their work, and this is one of those cases. Honestly? This album is a masterpiece. I first heart In Rainbows in 8th grade, and the album has been with me since. I've played it on loops throughout different stages in my life- when I interned at Chip and Pepper, when I moved back to Los Angeles the summer before freshman year, when I first started to learn how to drive etc. etc. Every track remains just a

I love Los Angeles for the little townhouses like this which I can photograph in front of and pretend I am coming home from a date with a guy who picked me up in his Ford Thunderbird and took me for a cruise down Main Street before we ended up at a diner with big red booths and a milkshake made for two. Well, at least I experienced the latter half of that fantasy on Saturday night. Senior year is killer. This is another Edinburgh dress that was three feet too long and large before I had it cut down and shortened. I love it- it's the perfect oversized baby doll. And honestly? I hate paisley but for some reason I am a huge fan of this print. Maybe it's the allure of being European born?  Nah. I just like the silky purples and oranges. The heavy-duty metal zipper down the back is also supreme. I bought this gingham dress in Edinburgh last August and finally, a year later, I am able to wear it. Originally, it was seven feet longer and had all these cute (but really worn) details like white capped sleeves and a peter pan collar. A couple months ago I got my hands on the number of a great tailor in LA and decided that the dress needed a complete do-over. We stripped the details, shortened the hem, and added a much more durable zipper in place of the little metal snaps on the back. I am so happy with the outcome. When I wore it to school I was told three things all day: 1) You look like Dorothy 2) You look like you could be going apple picking 3) You look like Alice in Wonderland. Teenage observations. When I came home my mom said to me "You basically wore a costume to school," which I was a little aghast at. Just because it's an iconic print does not make it a costume. Right? Right. Although, when my cousin offered over her dog Walnut to be in the picture I could

I've had these photos on my computer for 6+ months and finally decided it was time to put them on the blog. I love them. Super simple, interesting. Trousers, oversized sweaters, black boots, overalls, a little floral, darker colors. Amazing. I wish I knew where they were from...? I'm afraid that's the curse of storing images for later, you lose the origin of their birth. Edit: I spoke too soon. The label is Insight, you can buy here and here . There goes my college funds. It was rainy for the first time all fall in Los Angeles today. To say it was magical couldn't even begin to describe the city's atmosphere. Rainy LA makes me want to listen to Ravel.  Promise regular posting will resume soon. College and school and the SAT and piano and friends and a boy have gotten in the way. Expect something this weekend.
