Interested In You

I think I have mentioned a million times before that I have a huge interest in photography. I like to use disposables a lot for when hanging out with friends, and of course a Canon DSLR for the blog (I just ordered the T2i to also start taking HD video to make my own short films!) I also use a Panasonic Lumix for various family events and gatherings, a Fisheye for music festivals, and a Holga for summer fun. Then there is this Canon 35mm film camera. Its big and bulky and from the 80s. It was a gift from a stage manager who my mom worked with when she produced a musical a couple summers ago. I have only used it once before, and decided to pull it out again a couple days ago and really try to master the art. I still have some work to do, but here is what I came up with in the mean time. Have I ever talked about my affinity for 70s dresses? They aren't up on the blog as much as they should be but I really love them; they're so much fun to find and collect. They're so full of personality, they always make me wonder what woman wore them before me.

Im fascinated with how light hits an object in photos. I guess thats the principal thing in photography, but I love how the sun catches this silk shirt I bought at Forever 21 last year. It hasn't been on the blog, but I felt like I should point out I cut off all the buttons and replaced them with beautiful mother of pearl ones. I felt like a real housewife when I was sewing and it felt good.

Apologies on my absence for the past couple of weeks. Final projects and finals have really gotten the better of me, as well as the planning of a small trip to Oregon next week, and a major surgery in less than half a month (will discuss later.) I have a DIY coming up that Im excited to show you as well. Summer is going to be great.

This adorable baby doll dress is unlike anything else in my closet. I'm not one for such large stripes and blatant colors but there's something about the viscose fabric and the way the material hangs across the body-- it's lovely. Also, these heels? A friend of a friend was emptying her closet and luckily these Dior cut-out oxfords soon became mine for a crazy good discount (along with a couple other pairs you'll definitely see soon). The details on them are incredible. By the way, how pretty is this courtyard my mom and I found in mid Hollywood? I love locations like this. Even though I've been working quite a lot lately, I've found some time to get outside and be with friends, spend time with Jonah and pursue hot yoga. While I am excited for college, I really want to embrace these next couple months and take advantage of all the rest/relaxation I can. Orientation

USC's Orientation was a very busy two days. It was great to meet a couple of my future peers both in and out of the film school and get a feel for the campus/what it will be like staying in a dorm. Plus I got my schedule for first semester-- my first class is at 10 am. In other words,  I won't have to wake up at 6:45 any more! I am beyond thrilled. Here are some photos from the event: I bought this vintage blouse from a friend at school. It crazy 70s and therefore perfect. Jumping for (what else) joy outside the School of Cinematic Arts. My official home! The Gwynn Wilson Student Union building is probably one of the most beautiful structures on campus. Architecture like this makes me crazy. Many people don't equate that Ivy League/East Coast collegiate campus look with a school on the West Coast, but I beg to differ with a building like this one. Still so happy to know I'll be seeing Palm Trees on campus for the next four years. I wore these American Apparel JuJu jell

College Interviews!

I know I have been doing a lot of talking about high school, SATs, college etc. etc. without a lot of real life anecdotes- as opposed to vague allusions- to back anything up. Part of that's on purpose. I like to keep my personal life somewhat mysterious, and especially everything surrounding university/life beyond 14, 15, 16, 17. There are already enough kids applying as it is.    Anyway, a question I've seen a lot is what do you wear for a college interview? Having already been on 3 in the past two weeks, I now consider myself a seasoned veteran. I wore a variation of this outfit to all three interviews. By variation I mean: I bought two floral pants last spring, and I own two gray sleeveless blouses like this one here, and mixed them each time. The jewelry changed as well. Considering none of the schools I am applying to are fashion schools, I tried to tone down any sort of "ohmygod she's such a style blogger" feeling and just focus on keeping it classic,
